The tradition of Oktoberfest starts in München on October 12, 1810 with the marriage of King Ludwig I of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Sachsen- Hildburghausen. They celebrated their wedding with a five day festival that had horse exhibitions and races, dancing and lots of partying. According to German customs the celebrations also involved large quantities of food and beer, something that still prevails in the modern day Oktoberfest. Every year the celebration is renewed with over 6 million visitors to the city and approximately 6.9 million liters of beer consumed. 
Esta tradición comienza en München el 12 de octubre de 1810 con el casamiento del rey Ludwig I de Baviera y la princesa Therese de Sachsen- Hildburghausen. Su boda conllevó una gran fiesta de cinco días donde se llevaban a cabo carreras y exhibiciones de caballos, bailes, y mucho festejo. Acorde a la costumbre alemana se celebró con mucha comida y cerveza, algo que hasta hoy día se destaca del conocido Oktoberfest. Las festividades se renuevan cada año con cerca de 6 millones de visitantes a la ciudad y un consumo aproximado de 6.9 millones de litros de cerveza.
